EG4 Electronics had become one of the fastest-growing names in residential energy storage, with a loyal following among DIY builders and installers. But outside that community, the brand wasn't part of the national conversation.
Home batteries were getting cheaper and more accessible than ever.
Wildfires, grid strain and shifting solar incentives had homeowners asking whether energy independence was finally within reach.
Mainstream media was covering the category, but EG4's experts weren't the ones explaining it.
In trade media, EG4 was known for its products, not yet for its point of view on where residential energy was headed. They needed a partner who could translate its technical expertise into stories homeowners could understand, position its leaders as voices shaping the industry, and move the brand from trade press to national headlines.
This sets up both lanes of the approach section, with consumer education on the national side and executive thought leadership on the trade side.
We built EG4's program around a simple idea: teach the market, and the headlines follow.
Newsjacking the moments homeowners cared about. We tracked the stories already driving the energy conversation, including falling battery prices, wildfire season, grid reliability and shifting solar incentives. We moved fast to put EG4's experts in front of reporters covering them. When TechCrunch looked at why home batteries were suddenly cheap and everywhere, EG4 helped explain it. When wildfire season raised questions about solar output, Realtor.com turned to EG4. Instead of pitching products, we pitched answers, and we landed EG4 in the national stories homeowners were reading.
Securing bylines for longer-form education. Quick commentary builds visibility, but education takes room to explain. We pursued contributed byline opportunities with the industry's leading publications, giving EG4's experts space to go deeper on the questions shaping residential energy. That included a contrarian take on tax credits in Solar Builder, a look at the cost of friction in residential energy in North American Clean Energy, and pieces in EnerG Magazine and Energy Changemakers.
Building a bench of expert voices. We prepared multiple leaders to speak on behalf of the brand, each matched to the topics where their expertise carried the most weight. That gave reporters a reliable source on deadline and gave EG4 more ways to show up across national, consumer and trade media.
The result was an always-on program that paired timely national commentary with in-depth expert content, making EG4 both the brand explaining the news and the voice shaping where the industry goes next.
The program hit the ground running. In its first quarter, The Colab secured 21 opportunities, delivering 262% of goal.
EG4's leaders landed on some of the most listened-to podcasts in solar and energy, sharing the company's growth story and making the case for whole-home backup as an option for everyday homeowners. Leading solar trades tapped EG4 for its expert take on the trends shaping residential energy heading into 2026, while partnership announcements earned in-depth coverage across industry media.
Within the first 90 days, EG4 had moved from product news to a recognized expert voice, laying the groundwork for the national coverage that followed.
